Herbert A. Ammons Middle School is committed to meeting the academic requirements and social needs of its entire learning community so that its members are prepared for the next stage in their lives. Ammons Middle School is the first fully authorized school wide International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (IBMYP) in MDCPS, with an emphasis on the six Global Contexts (Identities & Relationships, Orientation in Time & Space, Personal & Cultural Expression, Fairness & Development, Globalization & Sustainability, and Scientific & Technical Innovation). We are committed to educating the whole child by developing their intellectual, emotional, and social talents while promoting responsible citizenship in a global society. We are proud to be recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, a Nationally Certified Magnet School, and achieving an A rating from the State of Florida for nineteen years in a row. Our curriculum provides students the opportunity to receive instruction in all core subjects as well as an annual course in world languages (Spanish or French). In addition, students take a semester of physical education, and a semester of the arts. I am thankful to work alongside a group of dedicated professionals that work together each year to design new plans and implement new strategies to reach our educational goals.
